How to remove these stains from the leather:

HOW TO REMOVE STAINS FROM LEATHER PRODUCTS

Attention!!! Test the effect of the cleanser on the inner part or hidden part of the leather. Do not start directly removing the stain.

Lay an absorbable sheet of paper or soft cloth under the stained leather. This will prevent from enlarging the stain on the leather.

Greasy stains

we treat them with gasoline, turpentine, acetone or with ammonia solution only in case that the leather is not painted, because in this case the solutions can damage the paint.

You can try removing the stain with a solution of a teaspoon baking soda and 0,5 teacup water.
Water a soft tampon with the liquid and then scrub the stain until foam is made. You should remove the foam with a dry towel.

Another way-spread the stain with talc or with magnesium, or you can mix the ingredients and make a paste like consistence, then lay it on the stain and put something heavy on it, leave it for 2 hours.
After the consistence is absorbed, remove the dust from the leather, then rub it first with a damp towel, then with a dry one

Mould stains

they are removed with gasoline. In case gasoline is not available, first lay lard on the leather, after that rub it with dry towel and put a mixture of vinegar, gas and water on the leather in equal proportions, leave it for 10 minutes, then polish the leather with a woollen cloth.

Ink stains

we treat them with warm milk or with lemon juice.

Unidentified stains

in this case, try to clean the leather with gasoline, lemon juice, red onion or with a solution of vinegar and water in a proportion 1:2.

Dirt

we clean dirt with a solution of ammonia, soap and water in equal proportions 1:1:1, it can be used also warm milk, which is not boiled.
Light leather can be cleaned with warm milk but in a solution with a small quantity of turpentine or vinegar. The places, where dirt is most, we clean them with gasoline and magnesium powder added in it.

Refreshment of the leather

If the leather is not dirty, but it has lost its lustre, the best you can do is to wipe the leather with caster oil, glycerine, red onion juice, lemon juice, lemon peelings or orange peelings. You can also use slightly whipped glair or wet coffee-grounds. After that wipe the leather with cotton cloth until it brings back its lustre.

Stains on light leather

you can treat them with paste of magnesium, talc and turpentine, or gasoline in equal proportions. Whip the mixture with wooden spoon until you get homogenous consistence. Lay the substance over the stain and press it with a piece of glass, then put a heavy thing on the glass, leave it for 10-15 minutes. Take away the glass and put some drops from the dissolving agent which you used to make the mixture. Wait until it gets dry. Use a dry napkin to remove the paste. If there are some stains left, repeat the whole procedure.

Patent leather

you can clean the leather with a milked tampon. When it gets dry, wipe the leather with red onion and then with dry towel.
To get back the lustre of the leather, spread it slightly with glycerine or with Vaseline, then use glair. Finally polish the leather with cotton towel

Velour

First use dry brush to brush the velour.
The glossy places can be wiped with hot wet towel.
The brown velour can be cleaned with coffee-grounds.

You can remove the greasy stains with gasoline, ether, chloroform or with some other dissolving agent or you can spread talk over the stain and leave it for a couple of hours, then brush the place.

To remove the dirt, use a solution of: 10% ammoniac and water in a proportion 1:4, or use 1teaspoon baking soda, dissolved in a cup of milk.
After that 'wash' the velour and wipe it with a solution 1 teaspoon vinegar and 1 litre water.

To refresh the old velour clean it with warm milk in which is added baking soda (1 cup milk, 1 teaspoon baking soda).

Velour is different from other leather because it can be washed in a hot soap solution with added ammoniac. Rinse slightly and dry it with a towel.
DO NOT WRING OUT THE VELOUR!
When the velour is dry, you have to raise the piles, for this purpose use a special rubber or metal brush, in case that you don’t have any of these, you can use a stiff foam, pumice, fine glass-paper or a dry crust of bread.

You cannot remove any marker stains!
